Overview of the KRK RP8G2 Rokit G2 8In Powered Studio Monitor
KRK have always had a reputation for designing affordable monitor speakers that perform their purpose well. The KRK Rokit G2 8 inch units continue the tradition.
When KRK first began producing speakers they were largely unpowered (I own a pair of the earlier version of the un powered model and they continue to serve me well).
Features of the KRK Rokit
As mentioned previously this is a powered unit which eliminates the need to purchase a separate amplifier. You simply connect from your audio interface via a choice of Unbalanced RCA, Balanced XLR or quarter inch guitar leads and switch on.
These speakers will pump out 90 Watts which is more than enough to meet the needs of the home studio and do so with minimal distortion.
The video below explains some of the design features of the monitors and how they apply to working with your music.
The frequency response of the RP8G2 is 44Hz – 20kHz which is excellent for a monitor of this size. Note: although KRK does quote the low frequency at 44Hz you can expect that anything usable will be above this. Even so it is still acceptable for most purposes.
If you’re a new producer who is tired of mixing on headphones and wants a solidly made, faithful monitor that will help you make better music without breaking the bank, these may just be the monitors you’re looking for.
