Overview of the Apogee Duet 2
An introduction to the Apogee Duet 2 – A 2 input x 4 output USB audio interface for the Mac.
The Apogee Duet 2 is the bigger brother of the Apogee One (minus the built in microphone) previewed in an earlier post. Along with pristine sound and the same portability (It is about the same size as an iPhone) The Duet offers double the inputs and outputs. The main advantage here is it’s possible to record a stereo pair such as left and right outputs from a keyboard or left and right microphones placed in front of a live performance. You also have the ability to monitor two stereo outputs separately.
The on board display and touch pads make setting up and monitoring inputs very easy while the rotary dial along with the included software allow any musician to configure the Apogee Duet to work with their favorite Mac recording program.
Using The Duet2 in Logic is easy to do and this tutorial demonstrates the process to set up and start recording quickly.
The Duet is a good choice for musicians and composers on the go. It also is an excellent tool for recording live stage performances and instances where you may need to record any sound source in stereo.
