Alchemy Player: a virtual instrument that is powerful, fantastic and free.
Looking for some unique, powerfully creative virtual instruments for your DAW for extremely low cost – even free?
Alchemy player is a fantastic synth/sample player that is a must have for any music producer wanting to expand their musical palette.
If you currently don’t have the budget to buy the full Alchemy synth – then you needn’t miss out from a taste of “Camel Audio” in your productions because the player gives you a nice starting point for free.
The sounds are inspiring and full and the technical support from Andy and the team is friendly, prompt and helpful.
Alchemy Player comes with 200 presets, each with 8 remix-pad variations. So that’s pretty much 1600 sounds – in fact, all the sounds in the video were made using Alchemy Player.
If you want to increase the variety of sounds even further, there are a number of sound packs available ranging from wildly distorted guitar mutations to smooth vocal pads to suit virtually any style of music. If you love to tweak, tame or mangle your sounds into something more then the full version of Alchemy is a great option.
(The great thing is that you can try the full version of Alchemy for 4 weeks before it reverts back to the player and then you can purchase a license key to reactivate at any time).
I personally have several of the sound packs and use the player regularly when I want to create something since it provides a great starting point from which to launch a project.
I have been running Alchemy player with Logic 9 and have had no problems with stability (and it loads quickly too).
To your music success.
Update: Alchemy was purchased by Apple and now is a part of Logic Pro X however you can still get a free version of Alchemy Player and a ton of other great plugins by purchasing a copy of Computer Music Magazine through Zinio.
